Make it ready for rain

The fabric sheds water. The stitching needs sealing before wet-weather use.

Why seal the seams?

The fabric is waterproof. The stitching isn't.

Silicone-coated polyester sheds water on its own, but the needle holes along each seam can let water through in sustained rain. Factory seam tape won't stick to silicone, so the seams need to be sealed by hand with a silicone-based sealer.

It takes about an hour of work at home plus 8 to 12 hours to cure. Or we can seal it for you before it ships, which adds 1 to 2 business days. Either way, seal it before your first rainy trip.

Room to stretch out, whatever your height.

The Skyscape is our most versatile 3-season tent. It has two big side entrances, each with its own 8 sq ft vestibule. Leave both open for sweeping 300° views, or open and close them to suit the weather.

The hybrid double wall gives you a bug-proof mesh interior and keeps a wet canopy at bay, and the extra-long floor leaves room for a morning stretch or your gear.

Choose 20D silicone-coated polyester for the lightest carry, or 190T polyurethane-coated polyester, the fabric used in millions of tents, for a lower price.

    Just an overnighter

Just when on overnighter to work out any kinks. I had hoped for a thunderstorm during the night, but it didn't rain until I was walking out and had few hours to get back to the trailhead. The wind blew all night 15MPH with gust to 30. The tent held up find, no problems at all. I'm a side sleeper and was worried about my head being so close to the edge of the tent. Felt very little if any wind. Had to get up in the middle of the night, plenty of head room. Easy setup!! I practiced in the backyard a number of time and even practiced on hills and uneven ground. I had no problem set it up after a 6 hour hike. Lots of room, could even put my backpack in if I wanted to!!

    Sturdy and lightweight

Having used this tent around a hundred times, I am very satisfied. However depending on the winter conditions. I have encountered condensation problems, which I have resolved by adjusting the ventilation.

Aside from that, I find the part of the roof of the tent is much too low and touch the sleeping bag, a point that should be improved.

Great tent and reliable shelter with minor flaw

I camped for twelve days. During those twelve days, we were hit by three severe thunderstorms with a lot of rain. The third storm was the heaviest, with an enormous amount of rain and 50-knot winds. The tent held up, but the wind allowed some water to seep through the mesh. I think the outer sides should be longer, to the floor, and the inner mesh should be shorter, i.e. the floor should be higher. This way, the wind would avoid blowing rain inside. There was a lot going on in the camp, lots of soaked tents, some people had fled to their cars. The Trekker turned out to be a great tent and a reliable shelter. The sealing is a bit messy, but it apparently works fine. I sealed it according to the official instructions. The rest of the time it was very hot, but the tent was comfortable to sleep in. It is well ventilated, there is no condensation and there is plenty of space.

    Great for Tall Bikepackers

I got the Skyscape Trekker for a bikepacking trip after trying a few other ultralight tents that felt too cramped – especially at the foot end. I’m a bit over 6’4”, and this is the first tent where I can actually lie down comfortably without touching both ends.

It’s light enough for bikepacking, packs down small, and fits well on my setup. You do need to buy the poles separately if you don’t use trekking poles, but that wasn’t a problem for me. After a few tries, setup is quick and straightforward.

So far, it’s been a solid and reliable shelter on the road.

    Nice roomy solo tent

Wanted something a little longer than the average solo tent . I'm 6'2" so my head and feet often touch the walls of most tents, causing moisture to get onto my sleeping bag. The Skyscape Trekker solved that problem. I've used it on a number of backpacking and backcountry bow hunting trips. It's kept me dry at a minimal weight.

My two person tent is a Six Moon Designs Lunar Duo which is also great for taller folks.
