Make it ready for rain

The fabric sheds water. The stitching needs sealing before wet-weather use.

Why seal the seams?

The fabric is waterproof. The stitching isn't.

The Owyhee Tarp is silicone-coated nylon, which sheds water on its own, but the needle holes along each seam can let water through in sustained rain. Factory seam tape won't stick to silicone, so the seams need to be sealed by hand with a silicone-based sealer.

It takes about an hour of work at home plus 8 to 12 hours to cure. Or we can seal it for you before it ships, which adds 1 to 2 business days. Either way, seal it before your first rainy trip.

24 oz — 680 g Two-Person Tarp with Perimeter Netting

Tarp-light, with the bug protection of a tent.

We took our Wild Owyhee design, made it in silicone-coated nylon, and added a no-see-um skirt around the whole perimeter, so you don't need to carry a separate bug net.

It pairs with the included 3D UL Groundsheet, a removable bathtub floor that clips to the corners. Together they make a roomy, bug- and weather-protected shelter for 30.7 oz.

$10 of every sale goes to the Oregon Natural Desert Association to protect and restore public lands and waterways in Oregon's high desert.

    Great Minimalist Shelter

I have had my Owyhee for over a year now, and I am very pleased with it. It is a spacious and lightweight hybrid tarp/tent. It slept my buddy and I on our adventure through the Sierra High Route for 10-days. Plenty of space for two people. On a couple rest days, we opened up the side doors all the way for a nice breeze while for chilling under its shade at camp.

This is definitely a shelter you can rely on. We put it through some tough conditions in the High Sierra and it stayed perfectly pitched each night, through gusty winds and morning dew from the nearby lakes. Setting it up and tearing it down is easy once you get familiar with the design. One thing to consider is don’t over tension the lines near the zippers at the corners. Mine are still secure but if they are over tightened, the seams may come undone, as they are in a critical spot for holding the whole thing up, while also providing access in and out.

Overall, I recommend this tarp for those who want a lightweight and spacious shelter. In my opinion, as someone who values simplicity, the Owyhee tarp is a better shelter than many of the more expensive tents I have used.

    Awesomeness

This is a fantastic and lightweight modular tent system in that I can just use the tarp which is great by itself then add the clip-in bathtub ul groundsheet floor as needed and it has high sides for splash-back protection and further bug protection included with perimeter bug netting attached to the tarp and very roomy too. Added bonus Ron and his entire staff at Six have given me stellar 5 star customer service and support
